A good bike fit is as important to your cycling success as any training
you can do or supplement you can take. I can remember a time when
bike fitting was almost nonexistent and finding the right setup was
being able to get on the bike and reach the pedals. Today a proper fit is
much more scientific and getting setup correctly can not only give you
more power but also more comfort. Years ago only top pros got the
personal attention needed to attain a proper fit, but now anyone can and
SHOULD. Even if you consider yourself a fitness cyclist a proper fit can
make your time on the bike safer through injury prevention and more
powerful through proper power dynamics. At FIT4CYCLING we use bike
fit techniques learned directly from Dr. Andy Pruitt's program taken at
Specialized bicycles headquarters in California. These programs and
techniques have been found to surpass others due to using a dynamic
fit method rather than outdated static formulas. Personal attention and
individual factors play a key role in our fits, everyone is different which
means every fit is different.
A little about FIT4CYCLING'S fit specialist:
My name is Jay Walsh and cycling has been a passion of
mine for more than 12 years. Starting out I was like most
people, cycling was just a form of getting in shape for
something else but after a little while it became an
obsession.
Proper bike fit became a mission of mine years ago when
after several bike fits by different shops I still had issues
with comfort and suffered from several pains. After
attending Dr. Andy Pruitt's fit school at Specialized
bicycle headquarters I was diagnosed with a significant
leg length discrepancy plus other misalignments. These
were corrected and now I am pain free and producing
more power. From that school I went on to attend the
masters level bicycle fit school and have been working
with fitting since. The fitting program is designed to take
the rider and their physical attributes and translate them
into a position that will not only make the most of your
power but also be comfortable to. Along with dynamic
fitting I also use power meters in certain applications.
And to make better use of positioning as it relates to
performance I am a certified USA cycling coach.
BICYCLE FIT PRICING
Basic fit: $65.00
Adjustment of saddle height and setback,
adjustment of drop and reach of handlebars.
Advanced 2D fit: $125.00
Basic fit plus adjustments for medical issues,
plus proper cleat alignment.
Advanced 3D fit: 175.00
Advanced fit plus proper leg alignment which
includes the use of shims for valgus or varus
problems.
Advanced tri/tt fit: 225.00
Advanced 3D fit plus adjustments for TT set-up.
I work with a cyclops power test center and
have access to state of the art power testing
devices. All fits can have a power test analysis
added for an additional 50.00
All bike fits come with a coaching evaluation to
make better use of your new position. Also their
is a 20% discount on all fits when used in
conjunction with a coaching package.
